SHENANDOAH HEIGHTS - On Tuesday night, West Mahanoy Township's Supervisors approved a motion to complete several items as part of the application process for a Rural Development grant from the United States Department of Agriculture. If awarded, the grant funding will be used towards the purchase of a 2017 Ford Police Interceptor Utility for the township police department, replacing its 2008 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor.
If approved, the grant will cover $6,800 of the cost of the new vehicle, which is $45,830. The rest of the cost will be covered by a $35,000 loan from First National Bank and a $4,030 contribution from the township.
The steps taken at Tuesday night's meeting included a request for Obligation of Funds, a completion of a Letter of Intent to Meet Conditions, completion of a Community Facilities Gran Agreement and Standard Form 3881, ACH Vendor/Miscellaneous Payroll Enrollment Form.
